Research on Ren 6

A 2002 study explored the effectiveness of Acupoint (AP) treatments in alleviating premenstrual syndrome (PMS) symptoms among women. Over 60% of participants in both the treatment and placebo groups experienced symptoms like anxiety, breast pain, insomnia, and nausea. However, the group receiving AP treatments saw a significant reduction in symptoms, with a 77.8% success rate compared to only 5.9% in the placebo group.2 The researchers attributed the positive results to AP’s impact on neurotransmitters that influence mood and physical well-being, suggesting that AP could be a promising treatment option for managing PMS.

A 2015 study published in the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health aimed to determine the ability of acupuncture to reduce the length of the third stage of labor.

Seventy-six puerperal women (“relating to the period of about six weeks after childbirth during which the mother’s reproductive organs return to their original nonpregnant condition” oxford dictionary) who had normal spontaneous birth at the Hospital Universitario Principe de Asturias in Alcalá de Henares, Spain, were included in a single-blind randomized trial and evaluated by a third party.

There were statistically significant differences found, with an average time to placental expulsion of 5.2 minutes in the acupuncture group compared to 15.2 minutes in the placebo group.3
