Tai Chi, also known as Tai Ji (meaning “supreme ultimate”), is a versatile practice with multiple benefits. It promotes overall health, vitality, agility, and calmness, improves breathing and circulation, and has been practiced by many as a form of self-defense. Rooted in the principles of opposites, Tai Chi reflects profound connections with modern bioscience, blending movement and stillness, hardness and softness, and emptiness with solidity. Through this interplay of opposites, Tai Chi offers a harmonious approach to physical and mental well-being.
This course features a short Yang-style form developed by Dr. Chiao Nien Wang and taught at the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS) in Whittier, a leading graduate school for acupuncture studies. Dr. Wang’s form emphasizes the health-enhancing and qi-activating aspects of Tai Chi and Qi Gong, providing an accessible yet profound introduction to these practices. Having practiced this form for over 15 years, I am excited to share its foundational principles and benefits with you.
